Section 01
The short version
You can delete your ScanPages account and associated data at any time, directly from the app or by emailing us.
Deletion is permanent. We can't recover an account or its synced documents once the request is processed.
Section 02
Delete from the app (recommended)
If you can still sign in to ScanPages, this is the fastest path. The deletion runs immediately and you'll receive a confirmation email.
- Open ScanPages and sign in
- Tap the Profile tab (bottom navigation)
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog
Section 03
Delete by email (if you've lost access)
If you can no longer sign in — lost device, forgotten password that can't be reset, or the account is locked — email us from the address tied to the account.
Send us: the email on the account, the approximate sign-up date if you remember it, and a short note confirming you want the account permanently deleted. We respond within 30 days, usually within a few business days.

Section 04
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
- Your authentication credentials (email, password hash, OAuth tokens)
- Your profile information (name, display name)
- Documents and scans synced to your account
- OCR text extracted from your scans
- Device sync state and pairing tokens
- Local data on the device you delete from (cached scans, preferences)
Section 05
What we retain (and why)
A small set of records is kept after deletion, either because the law requires it or because the data has already been stripped of anything that can identify you.
- Purchase receipts and subscription history — retained 7 years to comply with Canadian and EU tax and consumer-protection law
- Aggregate, anonymized usage counters that cannot be linked back to you (e.g. monthly active users)
- Crash logs that were already scrubbed of personal data at collection time
- Records of the deletion request itself — kept long enough to prove we honored it if asked by a regulator
Section 06
Timing
In-app deletion: immediate. The account is gone from our authentication system and synced documents are queued for permanent removal, typically completed within 24 hours.
Email-based deletion: we respond within 30 days, but most requests are processed within 3 business days.
Backups: encrypted database backups are rotated out within 35 days, after which no copy of your data exists in our systems.
